Well of course he has to propogate myth. The idea of whitelisting products that actually work in a Windows environment exposes a big flaw in how they've gone about solving the virus problem for years. Then the mind begins the process of justification and selective reasoning. You're asking him to be OBjective while being in such a pervasively SUBjective environment which is contrary to that. The mind is filled with many false assumptions about this topic and when the mind has a blind spot, like with the eye, what does it do? It fills in the blanks for us, and in his case, the filling is misleading. You will likely have to debate him step by step on the issue for him to come to realize his mistake. And we all make mistakes, so I intend no ridicule of the gentleman. But I've seen this 1000 times.
